UK’S BUSINESSES STRUGGLE TO SOURCE REQUIRED SKILLS

As Brexit negotiations develop, research has revealed that the UK is about to face a major workforce crisis.

In a study delivered by Robert Half, almost half of companies (49%) have reported that they are struggling to find the right skills for the job. This has resulted in one-fifth of companies (21%) looking to recruit candidates with exceptional soft skills that they can develop on the job.

This is likely to be made more difficult as European talent becomes harder to access following Brexit.

When recruiting for leaders at the top, respondents reported that they valued the ability to respond well to change, so that they could keep up with today’s volatile climate. They wanted leaders to embody and openness to new ideas (28%), change (26%) and good communication skills (10%).

Ben Markland, 360Leaders Co-founder and Managing Partner said “The tech business world is rapidly evolving, creating a need for leaders to adapt easily to an ever-changing environment. It’s essential for leaders in our industry to develop an agile approach towards their work.

"We see that leaders thrive when they empower an openness to ideas that develop the core of the business in an open and communicative way."
